ALPHA // COMMANDER
“Tourist Dave”
Cover: casual dad energy · lunar graphic tee (subtle Titan Freedom leak) · tactical-adjacent crossbody · skull patch on cap for “anonymity.”
// FIELD MISSION 07 · CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR · SACRAMENTO AO
Cover: F · Prizes: secured · Funnel cake: unlogged
Low-profile fair blend. Result: the agency’s two most photographed “civilians” — moon shirt + hot-dog-with-a-pistol tank.
01 // ASSIGNED CIVILIAN COVERS
Doctrine requires “boring clothes, forgettable posture, zero unit branding.” Leadership selected options from the Outfit Lab reject pile. PAWS ONLY later requested copies of the hot-dog tank “for morale.” Request denied. Request re-filed as a drawing. Drawing approved.

BETA // NIGHT SHADE
Cover: festival civilian · armed hot-dog graphic (Operation Rising Sausage cosplay) · camo cutoffs · wristband as “credential.”
“I told her the hot dog shirt was too loud. She said the fair is loud. I hate that she was right.” — Commander, post-mission debrief
“If anyone asks, we are two civilians who definitely did not map the funnel-cake perimeter.” — Night Shade, while purchasing a third funnel cake
02 // MISSION TIMELINE · EYES ONLY ADJACENT
Chronology reconstructed from wristband timestamps, midway receipts, and photos that should never have left the phone. All locations: California State Fair / Cal Expo AO, summer 2026 season window.
Operatives independently staged “Wish You Were Here” frames for the record. Night Shade’s frame includes dragon lantern overwatch and a smile that does not read as “undercover.” Commander’s frame includes the same dragon and the subtle energy of a man who has cleared rooms for less.
AAR: Dual postcards merged into joint file for training. Lesson: never stand near neon dragons in unit merch.
Objective: map crowd flow along the lantern corridor near Cantina 1854 and the Imaginarium exhibit. Method: selfie. Secondary method: second selfie with Night Shade mid-war-cry. Dragon lanterns provide excellent backlight for facial recognition (enemy win).
AAR: “Selfie as reconnaissance” added to the don’t-list. Then immediately used again at Butler Amusements.
Night Shade’s facial OPSEC collapses into pure fair-mode. Commander maintains partial composure and full awareness of every exit. Pair chemistry reads as “married couple on date,” not “denied dual-ops cell.” Moscow’s old files would be confused and slightly jealous.
Documented high-value sugar infrastructure: powdered, cinnamon, Oreo, banana cream, and other chemical weapons disguised as toppings. Queue densitiy suggests prime overwatch window for soft-target observation. Commander: “This is a chokepoint.” Night Shade: “This is dinner.”
AAR: No adversary intercepts. Multiple powdered-sugar fingerprints on Night Shade’s after-action napkin (not filed).
Night Shade executes dart protocol against the BALLOONS midways stack. Acquired: pink avian soft-asset (“orbital overwatch owl”) and amphibious frog unit (“river-corridor scout”). Official inventory codes: PAWS-MORALE-01 and PAWS-MORALE-02. Commander claims he “provided overwatch.” Night Shade claims she “carried the op.” Photos support Night Shade.
AAR: Plush assets currently billeted in the Burrow treat cache. LT attempted to interrogate the owl. Owl remains silent. Impressive.
Night Shade moves under full soft-asset loadout; hot-dog gun shirt remains the least subtle signal on the midway. Commander walks point like the midway is Fallujah with lemonade. No PAWS agents observed on site (officially). Unofficially, Buddy would have judged the frog.
Dirt-lot imprint logged as potential service-vehicle signature near carnival heavy-equipment paths. Analyst comment: “It is a tire.” Commander comment: “It is a tire with intent.” Filed under OP-WYWH annex as proof that someone, somewhere, drove something.
AAR: Evidence photo quality: excellent. Tactical value: debatable. Comedy value: maximum.
Final positional selfie under neon canopy. Night Shade: radiant. Commander: “I am fine” face. Mission declared complete when both agreed the fair was, quote, “actually fun,” unquote — the most dangerous words in a Night Shade after-action.

04 // AFTER-ACTION SCORECARD
MISSION SUCCESS · COVER DISASTER
By the letter of the tasking order: yes — civilian environment exposure, morale package recovery, and joint cohesion training complete. By the spirit of tradecraft: the midway knows their faces now.
“Log it as training. Do not log the number of funnel cakes. That number is eyes-only.” — Commander
“Wish you were here. Actually — glad you weren’t. We needed the prizes.” — Night Shade · postcard margin note
