ARTEMIS III.5b

PROJECT RHINO — Lunar Habitat Prototype Trials

While NASA’s public Artemis campaign prepares crews, landers, and surface systems for a sustained lunar presence, J.A.M.E.S.H.A. runs a parallel, very small-scale pathfinder: Agent Rhino is pressure-testing the first-generation lunar habitat module that will one day open the door for the Moon’s earliest residents.

Why a hamster goes to the Moon (almost)

Artemis III.5b is the Agency’s internal designator for a black-budget habitat validation series conducted under Night Shade’s personal program authority — Project Rhino. Public Artemis milestones (SLS, Orion, commercial Human Landing Systems, south-pole surface ops) remain NASA’s. JAMESHA’s contribution is the unglamorous truth of living systems: can a living asset enter, seal, rest, and egress a compact habitat under stress?

Rhino’s work is explicitly framed as pathfinding for the first lunar residents — not as a substitute for astronauts, but as a ruthlessly honest test of scale, access, and animal-grade determination.

“He is not a pet. He is a program. If the pod fits Rhino under duress, humans will not get stuck in the airlock later.” — Night Shade, Program Sponsor
“It is a hamster. A very determined hamster. I am proud of the determined hamster. Still a hamster.” — Commander (knows better; will not admit it on record)

III.5b is JAMESHA fiction layered between public III and IV. NASA did not assign a hamster. Night Shade did.

AIRLOCK FIT CHECK

Rhino evaluates lateral clearance through the habitat transfer tunnel. Mass ratio: ambitious. Determination: maximal.

    HUD Food Access Training

Before habitat seals and lunar dust, Rhino drills the interface that matters most on long patrol: secure chow via holographic HUD. Night Shade insists a pathfinder who cannot open his own dispenser is a liability. Commander calls it “treat theater.” The footage disagrees.

    PROTOCOL NOTES

    • Objective: Confirm asset can operate classified HUD without human assist.
    • Interface: Cyan holo-ring menu over nutrition bowl / dispenser array.
    • Success criteria: Menu ack + physical reward acquisition (dried fruit verified).
    • Night Shade: “He earned it. Log it.”
    • Commander: “That is still a hamster. With better UX than half our laptops.”

    Artemis III.5b joint mission patch

Embroidered pathfinder patch issued for internal wear only. Motifs combine Artemis-style orbital arc / trajectory energy with JAMESHA gold and Agent Rhino in pressure suit on regolith — habitat pod at his six, Earth on the limb.

    • ARTEMIS III.5b — joint designator (public III + secret .5b pathfinder)
    • LUNAR PATHFINDER — habitat access & seal validation
    • NASA × JAMESHA — partnership mark (ceremonial on our side)
    • Green pod — LH-PROTO-A pressure shell
    • Hamster astronaut — Principal Investigator (biological)

Commander’s note on the requisition form: “Approve patch. Do not approve hamster EVA suit for humans.”

    For Night Shade

The tape is cut, the patch is struck, the NASA spine is cited honestly, and Rhino is filed as what he is: the smallest serious astronaut this agency will ever field. When the first human seals a lunar hatch without panic, somewhere a golden-brown pathfinder will have already done the hard part — sideways, through a tunnel that was never quite big enough.
